Top Internet Marketing Blogs

By James On January 12, 2009 11 Comments

While surfing today on Rajaie Talks blog, I saw one of his articles about a project launched by Gyutae Park from Winning The Web. The project is in fact a ranking of the Top Internet Marketing blogs. Of course, being curious I went and had a look. I was quickly suprised to see that the ranking is in fact very reliable and that it is therefore a great source to find quality blogs to go and visit.

What can really be appreciated is that the ranking takes into consideration several reliable elements: the number of RSS subscribers, Alexa ranking, Compete rankings, Technorati rankings but also the Google Page rank, number of inbound links, the number of stumble upon reviews, the amount of del.icio.us saves and the amount of backlinks. From these elements, points are awarded to the blogs in order to have a ranking. As you can see it is an extremely complete and accurate ranking.

Top Internet Marketing blogs

Unfortunately Dollar James being only a Google page rank 2, I am not yet in the ranking. Meanwhile with a continuous work, I should be able to improve significantly my various rankings. My strategy for the moment is to focus on link building, and as you may imagine, I will definitely use these Top Internet Marketing Blogs in order to get useful information but probably also a few backlinks.

Can Viral Videos Drive Traffic?

By James On November 30, 2008 No Comments

During the last few years, viral marketing has become very popular on the internet. Viral marketing can be considered as a marketing technique based on social networks that will help you to increase your brand, blog or website awareness. In some cases it can also have a more commercial side to it, in order to achieve other commercial objectives such as a product or service sale. It is very similar to word of mouth but uses various supports to enhance the spontaneous word of mouth enthusiasm. One way to do viral marketing is to use videos and put them online, on various websites such as youtube or dailymotion. Today we will be having a look at whether viral videos can be used or not in order to drive traffic to your blog or website.

To make a viral video, you either need a good camera and do it yourself or use a web agency. Companies mostly use web agencies where as bloggers tend to create viral videos themselves. The goal for companies is to drive traffic where as for bloggers it is mainly for fun and notoriety. But in both cases, creating viral video has a cost as it requires equipment and time.

Marketingexperiments.com created 28 videos which were published on Youtube and Google Video in order to see the effect it had on traffic and whether this method was profitable. or not Each video  was amateurish and had a length between 15 seconds to 8 minutes and included a link to their main website. The total cost for the equipment was $9,600. The goal of their expirement was not to produce videos like an advertising agency would, but to produce more amateur videos as bloggers would do in order to analyse their viral impact on traffic. As a consequence, the videos were not promotional but more humorous oriented. They then tracked during 2 months the amount of times each video was viewed, the click-through rate and subscription rate.

So what were the results? Well they were rather good, as in 2 months the 28 videos had 324,190 views. The amount of clicks to their site from these video was 4,162 which represents a 1.28% click rate! The conversion rate to newsletter subscribtion was 1.49%! What is really interesting in their analysis is that they compared this to PPC Traffic. They found out that the cost for advertising with PPC for the first two months would have been of $1,248.60 which is equal to $20.14 per subscriber where as it would have been free if published on video social media platforms such as Youtube and Google Video.

To sum up, you can clearly see that by creating a viral video you can drive traffic easily and save money compared to Video PPC. Nevertheless creating a viral video is not that easy. To help you, I recommend you to read an article on TechCrunch about the secret strategies behind many viral videos.

Keyword Trend Tracking

By James On November 1, 2008 3 Comments

Anyone who is interested by niche blogging or niche business, knows that finding a niche is not that easy. You can use free tools such as Google Adwords Keyword tool in order to analyse the keywords you have in mind, but there are very few tools which gives you actual niche keywords and their trend. What i mean is that when using tools such as Google Adwords Keyword tool, you will have to think of a keyword, then enter it and get results. But the main issue is actually finding the keyword! Because if you just enter “computers”, well even though they will give you related keywords it will still be about computers and there is therefore little chance of it being a niche. Even though it is possible to find niche using Google Adwords Keyword tool, it does take time to analyse information and to calculate which niche is profitable or not.

But do not worry, yet again Google has the solution to simplify your life and help you gain a maximum of time! The tool you need is Google Insight. This tool is actually quite extraordinary, and i was quite suprised at first that Google made it public. So you probably want to know what it is and how to use it?

The tool is very simply, you just need to indicated a keyword (and this time you can type general keywords, such as computers, or digital cameras for example), the country inwhich you want to analyse it, and the yearwithin which the information will be collected from.

Once this is done, just submit, and Google Insight will give you amazing results. Normally you should have a graph for the keyword you entered which gives you the volume of searches. This is useful but not the best part of the tool. To see the best part of the tool, you need to go to the bottom. On the left you will see the top searches for terms which are related to your search, and on the right you will see how awesome the tool is. Yes, yes, you can see the rising searches!! Isn’t this incredible? Basically Google gives you the new successful keywords! The best is to select a “breakout” keyword! Simply click on a breakout keyword and have a look at the top graph! Wow, a recent sharp increase in search volume! As these are new rising keyword searches, the competition is rather low for most of them. Simply go on Google search enging and type the breakout keyword, and you will see that in most cases their wont be a lot of results!

All in all, with Google Insight creating website or blogs on new trendy keywords has simply become easy! For more information on it, simply visit John Cow’s blog where he gives an example or go directly to the Google Insight page!

How To Promote Your Niche Blog

By James On September 2, 2008 No Comments

Finding a niche blog is only one small part of the process of becoming succesful with your blog. Having a niche blog is good, but is useless unless you have traffic. Yes promoting your blog is the most essential part whether you are on a niche market or not. In this article i will explain my best technique which helps me promoting my blogs, getting traffic and increasing my revenues. This even works on brand new blogs, even though it is recommended to have a few articles on your blog before trying it.

So what is it then? Well in fact it is a lot more easy than you think. Previously, i talked about the Top 10 Link Building Techniques. In this article i talked about forum posting and the importance of having income links that are keyword relevant. Well just with this you can get a small amount of traffic, but which will convert very well. I launched recently in August a new niche blog, and am already making some small amount of money with it. In fact i making now the money i usually make with a blog but 3 months after it has been launched. In my case it worked in less than a week! Sometimes i wonder why i did not apply this method before. I also decided to use this method for my other blogs and guess what my traffic increased and as a consequence my adsense revenue also! If you are lucky to find niche markets with clicks around $2 then you will be amazingly suprised how this can be profitable!

Nevertheless what you need to know is that you must absolutely not spam your website on relevant forums. So what you have to do is find forums which are related to your niche blog topic, read messages that forum members have posted and when they ask a question, suggest an answer and offer to go and see your blog if they want more details. To be able to answer people, you will need to have some knowledge on the topic, so that is why it is recommended to launch blogs about topics you like and know things about. Do this on a daily basis, and you will se that traffic will come, that your adsense revenue will increase!
